People in the Past is an exploration of Lowry Pueblo, an ancient settlement in southwestern Colorado. This region was inhabited for thousands of years by hunters and gatherers. By AD 600, the first farmers had built a stone village of a kind now called a pueblo. People in the Past is the story of this ancient village as told by the inhabitants themselves, as interpreted by archaeologists, and as understood by their modern Pueblo descendants.

People in the Past begins during the final phase of a modern excavation at Lowry Pueblo. As an assistant archaeologist you will explore the pueblo, research materials kept inside tent, and other nearby sites. You will learn how archaeology works through activities and tasks set out for you, and hear modern Pueblos explain their traditional, ancestral lifestyles. During your visit, you will also travel back in time to experience Lowry Pueblo in AD 1125.
